Will Netflix stay close to the series of books for Season 3 and 4? Assuming they follow in order, then An Offer From a Gentleman and Romancing Mister Bridgerton should be in those seasons. Only time will tell. Will you watch? Of course, this will be years in the making probably through 2025 or later.  Julia Quinn must be extremely excited to be living an author’s dream.  Sending her kudos with a tinge of envy.

Fans of the smash hit have now been treated to yet more exciting news, with confirmation that the show has been commissioned for its third and fourth series.

I have a Google alert for anything new that comes up under the term “historical romance.”  The past four alerts have been jammed pack with news about Bridgerton and how it’s the next best thing on Netflix to tickle our romantic souls. This review, however, is a rather scathing one in the opposite direction.  Three days to release!  What will you think about this drama based off Julian Quinn’s popular series?

Bridgerton tries to put a fresh perspective on historical romance, but it forgets to be interesting. “As a huge fan of historical romance, I once longed for Netflix to make a lush, extravagant, twisty series in the vein of the books I loved. But now that it’s actually gone ahead and made one, I’ve found that I have to eat my words.”

Read more about the new Netflix Bridgerton series coming later this year based on Julia Quinn’s series.  Here are the cast and an interesting article, commenting on the casting versus reality in the historical romance genre. Talia Hibbert makes a good point.  Read below.

“No-one cares that the historical romance genre is built on a throne of lies, because it’s bloody romance! The clue is in the name! These! Stories! Are! Romanticised! They are, like all fiction, mere constructs of reality based on the author’s perception of their audience’s desires. And that’s okay! Except, apparently, when it comes to people of colour.”

Interesting article. Netflix has picked up the first two seasons.  Diana is working on another book. This article was published in Oprah Magazine on May 15. Follow link to read.  Though not a true “historical romance,” as even Diana admits, I’m sure readers will enjoy the news.

Gabaldon is currently working on the series’ ninth book titled Go Tell the Bees I’m Gone.
